Aboriginals Life On The Gold Fields

Just imagine living on a land that is just being taken from you each day. Well, that is what the aboriginals felt every day. Miners during the gold rush just started taking the aboriginal people’s land, not even asking them to take it.

Aboriginals knew about gold but did not know the value of it so didn’t place any value on it themselves. They did not have interest in mining for gold but stones. There is a lot of proof that the aboriginals had much interest in mining for stones and found a stone called green rock which is a heavy stone that is surprisingly not green but grey.

At the gold museum they have many aboriginal artifacts and some of them do not have a clear place on where they came from. Which is why they have very strong relationships with aboriginal people to help them locate where they were from.

Native police were police who were responsible for the gold miners. They did not treat the miners good at all, in fact they treated them very poorly. That is how the rebellion at Eureka started. The native police were also the first police in Ballarat.

Here is a question for you :

What do you think ochre is?

Good Reads

Some of my favourite genres of books to read in the library are Family and Friendship, Adventure and Mystery. I like reading these genres the most because they are the ones that most interest me for many different reasons like with family and friendship you can learn many things about have  friendship issues and resolving them.

I would recommend the FRONT DESK book for people that enjoy reading family and friendship books because it is a great story about a family that doesn’t have the best life but they make the most with what they do have. Another reason why I would recommend this book is because of the friendships they make along the way of their hard life.

I have recently finished reading my first book chat book of the year. The book that I read was called INHERITANCE. This novel was mostly about a girl named Veronica [Nic] that has to stay with her grandfather at his remote family property and finds out that she can time travel and so have many of her ancestors. I would not usually tend to reach out to read this type of book so it did take me quite a while to get into this book but when I did get into it I did get a little intrigued into what was going to happen next in the story.

I hope you enjoyed reading about my good reads and hopefully you can try some of my recommendations.

Dear Future Year 4’s

Dear Future Year 4 Students,

I hear you are coming up to Year 4 next year in 2020.

Here’s three things that you need:

~  Resilience

~ You will need resilience in Year 4 because something’s that you do in Year 4 may be challenging for you and if you keep on getting it wrong than you can use resilience and keep on going and it will make you want to get right way more.

~  Knowledge

~  In Year 4 you will need to bring your own knowledge from your past years of school into Year 4 so you can build on your knowledge and use some of your old knowledge when you do some work in class.

~  Independence

~  In Year 4 you need independence because you can’t always have a teacher helping you.

Four things to look forward to are:

~  You should be looking forward to going to camp at Mt Evelyn and doing all the activities and to make new friends in your cabins.

~  You should be looking forward to be in Year 4 and to do your blogs.

~  You should be looking forward to helping the salvos by making blankets, buying toiletries and buy food for the homeless people.

~  You should look forward to working to get your pen licence.

A time I laughed was when a group of students and some teachers got lost on the route to the camp site.

A time I was challenged was on the camp because I had a broken arm and it was in plaster but I still enjoyed camp even though I was injured.

I am proud of how much I have learnt throughout this year of 2019.

I will always remember Mrs Burns and Mrs Haines saying we hope you have a great holiday and we are happy to see you next year on orientation day.

Bye for now, Alia.

Nativity

           NATIVITY

In Term 4 in 4HB we have been working on our Nativity play. The Nativity play is basically the play of the Christmas Story. We all have written a scene each. There are 12 scenes in the play so we wrote the scenes in partners. I wrote scene 5 and I wrote this scene with my friend Audrey. Writing the scenes were the first steps. The second step was to get the script checked and edited teachers and Mrs De Paiva. The third step was to do the auditions for the roles and then to assign the roles to the people who earned the most votes. The fourth step was to memorise our lines. The fifth step was to practise the whole play with everyone in it. The sixth step was to get the outfits for our roles. The seventh step was the dress rehearsal.

PLA’s

While we were memorising our lines it took resilience because it is annoying when you mess it up and you have to start all over again but if you use resilience you will get.

What was enjoyable? The part that was enjoyable for me was getting the to get the costumes and to practise the nativity with everyone doing there parts.

Bye for now, Alia.

Judging Non-Fiction Books

This term in library we have been judging books. We have done this over 6 weeks. The books we judged were the CBCA shortlist for non-fiction . You may also know the CBCA as Children’s Book Council Australia. You are probably wondering what criteria we judged the books on. Well all the year 4’s made a criteria list. I will share some of the criteria with you.

-You need to have a clear font so the readers can actually read the book.

-You also need to have a balance of visuals and writing on that page.

-Don’t forget not to put a lot of writing on one page or else the readers will get bored.

-Make sure the pictures match the writing.

The book that I voted for was Make Believe By Kate Ryan and M.C Esher.

Here is a photo of the sheet that I scored this book on:

I voted visuals 9/10.

I voted layout 9/10.

I voted information 9/10.

See you soon, Alia

Come and Meet the Scientists

This term we did a Science experiment we got to choose what we wanted to do. We chose do an experiment involving elasticity.

We chose to do an experiment with balloons and weights, basically how our experiment worked is we attached the weights to the balloons and saw which ones would break with different amounts of weights.

What we found well is we videotaped it in slo-mo and that really showed when the balloon broke.

Our difficulties were that we had too find a way to attach the weights to the ballon.

We tried string except the weights kept on falling of but then we found a way!

We used resilience when we couldn’t attach the weights to the ballon and trust me we tried multiple times!

Book Week

My character was Thing 2. The other Thing was Eleni.

Here is a photo of us:

Here is a photo of Audrey,Sarah,Eleni and I:

The author is Dr. Suess.

The genre is humour.

The book is about two twin brothers that came out of a box and shatters everything and makes mischief. The cat in the hat tells them to clean their mess up but they don’t.

We prepared by showing each other the costumes at school. I brought some hair chalk, hair spray and makeup crayons. Eleni brought the costumes. We didn’t want by the wigs so that’s why I brought hair chalk and hair spray.

My connection with the character was that we have similar personalities. That’s why I chose to be Thing 2.

See you soon, Alia.

Community Service

As soon as I got home with my homework I decided with my parents how much money I would get. My parents decided that I would get $2.50 for every chore that I did. At the end of the first week I had $20.00. I handed that in and then I had another week to earn even more money. So after that week I had earned $10.00 and don’t forget about the other $20.00. So how much money did I earn in total? After all of that we did experiments to get the best material. By the end of all of the experiments it came done to neoprene, wool and polar fleece. Then it came down to cost and polar fleece was the best. Then we stitched the outside with a blanket stitch. Now people are enjoying our blankets.

See you soon, Alia.

My Time Table Goal

This is a photo of my time table goal graph.

The first point where I dipped was when I changed my goal. The second time I dipped was when I broke my arm so I had to use my left hand which made slower.
